A routine eye examination generally focuses on vision correction, glasses, contact lenses, and preventive eye health. A medical eye visit addresses a diagnosed or symptomatic medical condition such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, eye pain, infection, or sudden vision changes. The type of insurance used may depend on the reason for your visit.

A routine vision exam generally focuses on glasses prescription, contact lenses, and general eye health. A medical eye visit evaluates medical concerns such as red eye, eye pain, dry eye, diabetes-related eye care, glaucoma concerns, sudden vision changes, flashes, floaters, infections, or other eye health problems.

Medicare generally does not cover routine refraction solely to determine a glasses prescription. However, Medicare may cover medically necessary evaluation and treatment of eye disease when applicable coverage requirements are met.

Many patients do not need a referral for routine optometry or vision-plan services. Some medical insurance plans may have referral or authorization requirements. Our office will help verify requirements when scheduling becomes available.

Yes. We provide routine and specialty contact lens services, including toric, multifocal, rigid gas permeable, and scleral lenses.

Yes. We provide comprehensive dry eye evaluations and individualized treatment plans, including advanced treatment options when clinically appropriate.

Yes, we plan to offer appointments for many urgent eye concerns, including red eye, eye pain, infections, foreign bodies, and new flashes or floaters. For severe trauma or sudden significant vision loss, emergency care may be necessary.
